I was looking through the list of posts that I have part-written over the past year and I’ve realised I need to get better at finishing posts. I currently have 15 un-finished posts (16 if I don’t post this one too!! 🙂 ); There are the things I’ve had ideas for and not completed and […]
Hello and welcome to the last week of my 30 Day Sketchbook Challenge. I’ve enjoyed having a new prompt every morning again this week and I will miss that for the rest of the year! However I have knitting and crochet to get on with and all this drawing does eat into the time I […]
Welcome to the third of my weekly round-ups for my 30 day sketchbook challenge 2018. Just in case you’ve missed Week 1 and Week 2, I’m taking part in a sketchbook challenge. Each morning a new “prompt” is released and we have to sketch something that relates to that prompt! Some are easier than others!!! […]
Hello! As you may have read in my January 2018 Goals post, I’m taking part in a 30 Day Sketchbook Challenge! Each morning, I get an email from the organisers Magenta Sky Printing with a new prompt. After some initial panic thinking “I can’t draw that!!!”, my little cogs start whirring. There is a Facebook […]
Hello! Can you believe its 2018 already? This decade is going so fast! This year, I decided, rather than setting goals for a whole year I’d set myself some smaller goals for each month. So that they can be achievable, I’ll set them at the start of each month. Now, I know the clever ones […]
This may (or may not be?) a very British post. Along with many people around the world, I LOVE a nice “cuppa”! I’m a firm believer in the power of a cup of tea…. Feeling sad? Cup of tea will sort that! Friends round? Get the kettle on!! Feeling cold? ohh a nice cuppa will […]
Yesterday, the weather was cold and wet. Today, Remembrance Sunday, is much nicer. It is a typically cold November morning but the sun has come out. I love sunny winter days, I get to put on my hand-knits and go out for a lovely walk. So lets get started with walking and podcasts Sometimes I […]
Hello crafty friends! I’ve been VERY busy recently knitting away at my one project so I’ve not had much to share in the way of progress. Sorry! On Saturday I had a big family gathering in my (not so big!) house. I’m very lucky and all my lovely family bought wine and chocolates to help […]
Its Mid-October in a usually chilly Warwickshire and I’m sitting in the garden, happily knitting away…the only cardigan in sight is the one I’m currently working on! It’s a glorious 19 degrees and the sun is out to say hello! I thought I’d quickly put down my work to share my progress on my “Stripes […]
Hey Guys, I’ve not been away deliberately, I’ve just been VERY BUSY actually doing some knitting and crochet! So much that I’ve been too busy to blog! eek sorry! I’m happy to be able to share my progress today though. Starting with….”a blanket” You’ll remember in these posts here, I confessed my WIP shame for […]
I’m very very excited to announce that Freddie the Field Mouse (my free knitting pattern – available here!) has got some friends! Thanks to my test-knitters Hennie and AnneDoug (on Ravelry!) First there was Mulberry. She came with an AMAZING poem written by the brilliant Hennie who made her. See the Ravelry post here. Isn’t […]
Instagram, for those times when you don’t have a whole lot to say, but the picture is pretty….!
Late last week, we decided that a few days away would be a nice idea. I blooming LOVE Cornwall, so we decided to brave the holiday crowds and head down to Cornwall. Not fancying spending thousands on a hotel, or getting soggy in a tent for four days, we managed to bag ourselves a static […]
Today the sun stayed out long enough for a visit to the local “Art in the Park” festival in Leamington Spa.
Strange title for a post I know, I don’t really have anything to say but I’m interested in your responses. I’ve used Ravelry for a while and LOVE it. I’ve not explored the groups / forums side of it though and to be honest I’m not sure where to start. There seem to be so […]
Soooooooo….this week I have mainly been knitting to be honest (sorry Crochet!) I’ve been making some solid progress on my new shawl design (Need to think of a name, any ideas welcome!) I was even doing my bit for “knitting in public” earlier and I knitted on the train down to a customer meeting in […]
Fascinating article about knitting as a code during the war….blogged about on “Chris and Shana Craft shack”. I’ve often thought that knitting patterns are a kind of code! Here the knitting itself might have been! check it out here! “I’ve mentioned to Chris on a few occasions about my design notes for patterns looking like […]
Here is a quick look at some of the pictures I’ve put on Instagram this week. This week I’ve been stalked by penguins…All over the place….they are even watching me now….sinister! I also have a lovely smooshy delivery of yarn… from All Wool that Ends Wool! Look at those lovely colours, can’t WAIT to start […]
I’ve just got back from a nice sunny Saturday run. I went “nosing” around all the posh houses and gardens (all £1m plus!) today. I can only dream of owning one of those. I’ve returned to the more reasonably priced end of town and an sitting on my patio pondering what to do next! I […]
I was driving to work yesterday morning, when i heard an article on the news about there being a link between keeping an active brain and reduced risk of dementia. I thought about it on the way to work and decided to do a bit more reading on the subject. I’m in the unfortunate situation […]

I’ve finally finished my Scheepjes Whirl Shawl (You’ll remember I wrote about it here). I’ve been concentrating on getting it finished instead of my Hygge recently but its now complete. It is a perfect little thing to wrap around your shoulders when the weather is sunny enough to sit in the garden and read a […]
Its been a while since I blogged, mainly because I have been in Australia visiting friends! You may remember that I blogged about my Joy’s Journey blanket. I’d decided to make it for my friend Beccy who lives in Perth in Australia. It not as odd as it sounds, it does get slightly chilly in […]
This week in the Scheepjes Hygge CAL 2017, we are doing another week of double crochet. Another 59 rows. I’ve still got 10 rows of last week’s double crochet to finish off too!! its not that interesting but I suppose as it doesn’t need any concentration its perfect TV crochet!! Oh, and that hook? That’s […]
As well as continuing with my Hygge CAL, I’ve also been working on my new shawl using Scheepjes Whirl. This week its time to show you the “Green Tea Tipple” one that I’m working on.
Nothing much to say, I just enjoyed this picture of my WIPs that I took last week. Oh and I’ve started “proper cross-stitch”, as if I didn’t have enough hobbies….!!!
Scheepjes have recently released this new yarn called “Whirl”. It comes in this giant “cake” of yarn which is 1000m long. Easily long enough for a shawl I thought!. The yarn is fingering weight and gradually colour-changes to make a really gentle transition between colourways. From what I’ve discovered so far, they are right about […]
I posted a couple of weeks ago about my progress on the Scheepjes Hygge CAL 2017. I’ve been faithfully keeping up with each week and so I thought it was time for a further update.
So! After some hard work yesterday, I’ve finally completed the second week of the Scheepjes Hygge CAL 2017. Last week, “everybody’s bobbling….”. This week involved some surface crochet slip-stitches and a lot of cross-stitch. I found the cross-stitch a little challenging at first, its pretty hard to follow a pattern when the “holes” aren’t that […]
Hello, its been a while since I’ve blogged. I’ve been very busy with other things and I’ve also been suffering a bit with pain in my wrist (eek, too much crochet?!) so I’ve been taking it a bit easy the last week or so, giving my wrist time to heal a bit. I’ve not been […]
Earlier, I posted about accidentally buying yarn too gorgeous to use. I’ve done it again…these Scheepjes Maxi BonBon yarns are gorgeous too don’t you think? This time, I actually have a project in mind though…
…these turn up and you are so excited by how cute they look and how beautiful the colours are that you don’t really want to use them….
