I’ve got this all sewn up!

Some time ago, I decided that my lounge needed some new cushions.  Obviously, they would need to be either knit or crochet ones….right?? My mum and I had fun playing around with some stash yarn and working out a good colour scheme.  I decided that my “last dance on the beach” colours would be perfect. […]

Hello!  Sorry for the slight hiatus in posting recently, back in the real world I’ve got a new job and its taking a lot of my time, effort and focus to learn all the new stuff I need to know there. I’ve been missing you all though.  How have you been? Meanwhile, I’ve not been […]

Hello you lovely lot!  I’m sorry I’ve been a bit absent, I’ve been doing “Life”!  I’ve missed you though so hello again! One of the reasons that I’ve not been able to post is that I’ve been on holiday (yay!) We had a lovely week on a boat on the Norfolk Broads. We had a […]

The next thing on my list is…Mosaic Knitting!

For those of you that have been following my blog for a while, you’ll probably have noticed that I get bored if I’m doing the same thing over and over….If you’re new to reading what I’m up to, hello, welcome to the mad-house! 🙂 After my foray into fillet crochet, with my “Rough Diamonds” shawl […]

Re-brand alert!

So, I’ve been thinking for some time that my blog “brand” wasn’t quite what I wanted.

I’m so NOT a “completer-finisher”…or am I…?

I was looking through the list of posts that I have part-written over the past year and I’ve realised I need to get better at finishing posts. I currently have 15 un-finished posts (16 if I don’t post this one too!! 🙂 ); There are the things I’ve had ideas for and not completed and […]

January 2018 Goals

Hello!  Can you believe its 2018 already?  This decade is going so fast! This year, I decided, rather than setting goals for a whole year I’d set myself some smaller goals for each month. So that they can be achievable, I’ll set them at the start of each month. Now, I know the clever ones […]

The great tea-debate 2017 – the power of a “good cuppa”

This may (or may not be?) a very British post.  Along with many people around the world, I LOVE a nice “cuppa”!  I’m a firm believer in the power of a cup of tea…. Feeling sad? Cup of tea will sort that! Friends round? Get the kettle on!! Feeling cold? ohh a nice cuppa will […]

Sunny Autumn Garden-based-knitting

Its Mid-October in a usually chilly Warwickshire and I’m sitting in the garden, happily knitting away…the only cardigan in sight is the one I’m currently working on!  It’s a glorious 19 degrees and the sun is out to say hello! I thought I’d quickly put down my work to share my progress on my “Stripes […]

First there was Mulberry.  She came with an AMAZING poem written by the brilliant Hennie who made her.  See the Ravelry post here.  Isn’t […]

Exploring Ravelry..which Groups are the best?

Strange title for a post I know, I don’t really have anything to say but I’m interested in your responses. I’ve used Ravelry for a while and LOVE it.  I’ve not explored the groups / forums side of it though and to be honest I’m not sure where to start.  There seem to be so […]

Cascade Heritage Sock Yarn

Find out what I’ve been up to this week in my WIP Update

Soooooooo….this week I have mainly been knitting to be honest (sorry Crochet!) I’ve been making some solid progress on my new shawl design (Need to think of a name, any ideas welcome!) Knitting Espionage -reblogging

Fascinating article about knitting as a code during the war….blogged about on “Chris and Shana Craft shack”. I’ve often thought that knitting patterns are a kind of code! Here the knitting itself might have been! check it out here! “I’ve mentioned to Chris on a few occasions about my design notes for patterns looking like […]

A WIP in time…or is it nine?

I’ve just got back from a nice sunny Saturday run. I went “nosing” around all the posh houses and gardens (all £1m plus!) today.  I can only dream of owning one of those. I’ve returned to the more reasonably priced end of town and an sitting on my patio pondering what to do next! I […]

Keeping your brain active – can knitting and crochet help?

I was driving to work yesterday morning, when i heard an article on the news about there being a link between keeping an active brain and reduced risk of dementia.  I thought about it on the way to work and decided to do a bit more reading on the subject.  I’m in the unfortunate situation […]

Scheepjes Whirl Shawl - Green Tea Tipple

Scheepjes Whirl Shawl

I’ve finally finished my Scheepjes Whirl Shawl (You’ll remember I wrote about it here).  I’ve been concentrating on getting it finished instead of my Hygge recently but its now complete.  It is a perfect little thing to wrap around your shoulders when the weather is sunny enough to sit in the garden and read a […]

Hygge all over the world….

Its been a while since I blogged, mainly because I have been in Australia visiting friends!  You may remember that I blogged about my Joy’s Journey blanket.  I’d decided to make it for my friend Beccy who lives in Perth in Australia.  It not as odd as it sounds, it does get slightly chilly in […]

Some birds appeared…

This week in the Scheepjes Hygge CAL 2017, we are doing another week of double crochet.  Another 59 rows.  I’ve still got 10 rows of last week’s double crochet to finish off too!!  its not that interesting but I suppose as it doesn’t need any concentration its perfect TV crochet!! Oh, and that hook?  That’s […]

Scheepjes Whirl Shawl - Green Tea Tipple

Whirling around…

As well as continuing with my Hygge CAL, I’ve also been working on my new shawl using Scheepjes Whirl.  This week its time to show you the “Green Tea Tipple” one that I’m working on.

WIP-WIP, Cross-stitch style!

Nothing much to say, I just enjoyed this picture of my WIPs that I took last week. Oh and I’ve started “proper cross-stitch”, as if I didn’t have enough hobbies….!!!

I thought I’d give this a whirl

Scheepjes have recently released this new yarn called “Whirl”.  It comes in this giant “cake” of yarn which is 1000m long.  Easily long enough for a shawl I thought!.  The yarn is fingering weight and gradually colour-changes to make a really gentle transition between colourways. From what I’ve discovered so far, they are right about […]

Hygge CAL Week 4

I posted a couple of weeks ago about my progress on the Scheepjes Hygge CAL 2017.  I’ve been faithfully keeping up with each week and so I thought it was time for a further update.
