Hello! Can you believe its 2018 already? This decade is going so fast!
This year, I decided, rather than setting goals for a whole year I’d set myself some smaller goals for each month. So that they can be achievable, I’ll set them at the start of each month.
Now, I know the clever ones out there will notice that today is the 4th January, no, I’m not going to set myself a goal to do this sort of thing on the 1st of the month!
So here goes, these are my 3 goals for January!
1. Draw More
I’ve signed up for a 30 day sketchbook challenge. I’m not going to promise to complete every one of the drawings, but I’m going to do my best to keep up with as many of them as possible!
Each day, we get a different prompt, for example, one prompt was “leaves”, funny really, after the storm on Tuesday night, there were lots of leaves on the ground to choose from!!!
Here is my attempt at “leaves”…
Whilst I was outside getting leaves, I spotted this daffodil…the first one of the year! I’m so glad that I planted January flowering ones! I decided that they have leaves too, so it fit with the prompt…so I drew them too!
Not perfect, but hopefully it looks roughly like what it should!! haha!
As you can see in the image at the top, I’ve even been inspired to create my own “January” logo! 🙂
2. Finish my “Everything Nice Hoodie”
I’m enjoying this knit! Its not much more exciting to look at than the pictures in Saturday’s post, however I have now nearly finished the body section. Guess what’s next…….SLEEVES!!! haha!
3. Finish writing up two patterns and get them into “testing”
Now that the knitting on my Random Stripe Cardigan is finished, I can write up the pattern and get it into testing.
I’ve also been reminded that I promised to write up this New Shawl that I was designing in the summer. I have mostly written it up, just need to complete it and get it tested too!
I promise to report back at the end of January and let you know how I’ve got on!!!
Wish me luck!
Have you set yourself any goals, for January or 2018 that you want to share?
Jo

Good luck:)
thanks!!
Nup. Know I’d never stick to ’em. Sighhh …
Yours are good enough ! 😀
you can live vicariously through me!! hahaha! 😂
Why not ? – I believe I shall! [grin]
Best of luck on your goals! I haven’t set any specific January goals for myself, but I have an ongoing list that I’m working on.
This is a great idea, and i love your sketches
thanks! today’s isn’t going too well! 🤣
Oops! Are you still going to show us though? 😆
Oops! Are you still going to show us though? 🤔
sure! I will share more as I get through the weeks. I’m posting on instagram too if your an instagrammer?
That’s cool. I’m not on Instagram I afraid.
not to worry. if people are interested in my fails I’ll post on here too. hopefully I’ll have some successes too!! I’ll post after I have a few days so watch this space! 😁
I’m always interested in people’s journeys, and I’ve discovered by posting my ‘fails’ on here that others don’t necessarily share my negative opinion of them, and i can usually find something good in them after all! But, the main thing is that you enjoy doing it, regardless of the outcome
very true! I’m enjoying learning! 😊 will certainly post. hopefully people more gifted at art than me can help me improve!
I’ve certainly found advice on here helpful, but also just practising and reflecting on what I’ve done helps me improve too
Sorry, thought the first one didn’t send, and now can’t delete either of them!
ha! don’t worry, happens to me all the time too! sorry! 😁
I’m more used to writing a long reply and then losing the whole thing!!
that’s soooooo annoying isn’t it!!
Totally!
Those are some great goals! Your drawing and knitting are beautiful 🙂
thanks! 😊
I decided on something similar this year – there are too many projects I want to make that it’s better to focus on one step at a time 🙂 Love your drawings and knitted projects! especially the last one is intriguing – can’t wait to see the pattern for it.
thanks! I get over-excited and think of too many goals otherwise! 😂
Good luck! Beautiful drawings!
Your sketches are gorgeous!
thanks! I’m totally a beginner when it comes to any kind of drawing but I love learning new stuff! 😊
Good luck with your goals 🙂 Your drawings are fabby, and I love the look of the shawl – can’t wait for the pattern!
Thanks 🙂 Drawing is distracting me from publishing it…must get more organised for the rest of Jan!!!!
Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. You have a lovely site here. I have “followed.” i wish I could draw like that – my drawing and painting skills have never developed beyond kindergarten stage! As soon as I saw that daffodil, I knew you had to be in the UK. Everything here is buried under a couple of feet of snow. Nicola
Thanks for your nice comments Nicola 🙂 Your blog is great too. My drawing and painting skills are still massively in development, but I’m trying my hardest to learn more. I love learning new stuff! 🙂 🙂
