Cross My Heart Crochet Cushion Cover

Fancy making a very simple crochet cushion cover?  Look no further, introducing “Cross My Heart” Crochet Cushion Cover Pattern, now available!

I’ve recently been working on updating my colour-scheme at home.  Because I’m too lazy to paint walls, I decided to raid my stash and get creative with some yarn.  I created this crochet cushion cover pattern after the falling in love with cross stitch again after taking part in the Hygge CAL that Scheepjes held a couple of years ago.

This cushion Cover is a simple way to use up stash yarn.

You’ll need 2x balls of Scheepjes Stonewashed (or c.260m / 285 yards of another DK / Sport-weight yarn if you’re stash-busting like me!) and a few meters of some different shades of Scheepjes Catona (or other similar yarn, its a mercised cotton, fingering weight). I love Scheepjes Catona for this type of thing.   You can get it in many colours and it comes in 10g balls for £55p (you wont need more than 10g per shade!).  I used the following shades, but feel free to get creative!

  • 124 (Ultramarine)
  • 130 (Old Lace)
  • 201 (Electric Blue)
  • 391 (Deep Ocean Green)
  • 397 (Cyan)
  • 400 (Petrol Blue)

To make the pattern you’ll make a crochet fabric and then cross-stitch on top of that.  Don’t worry if you’ve not tried to cross-stitch on crochet before, I’ve included a full photo tutorial in the pattern showing you exactly how to get started!

And here it is, taking pride of place on my sofa!
