My Crochet Between the Lines (CBTL) Shawl – WIP

Hey Folks!  Recently I’ve been getting my cro-jo back on and I’ve been working on this new shawl design from the super talented Tammy Canavan-Soldaat.  She has created a knitted one called Read Between the Lines and a crochet one called Crochet Between the Lines.

I’ve done a lot of knitting projects recently so I decided to have a bash at the Crochet one…Today I’m going to share my progress so far!

The shawl is made using two balls of Scheepjes Whirl.   I chose Green Tea Tipple and Tasty Nom Nom to make mine with.

CBTL-RBTL

It is a triangular shawl, so it starts small…

…and gets BIIIIIG!  I’m only about 3/4 of the way through and I’m already struggling to get it all in one shot!!

It has this clever stitch which gives it a cool bobble effect which causes a nice illusion…

Unfortunately, I realised on the 11th repeat (each repeat is 26 rows!) that I was doing that stitch wrong!!! I decided to just carry on.  Consequently I’m not getting quite as strong illusion as I should but I still love it!

I love the way that the grey and reddy-pink are blending and the green and purple are starting to come in now which is exciting!

There are lots of other people making this and the Knitted version on the Scheepjes MAL (Make Along).  Are you one of them??  I’d love to hear from anyone else that is making this beautiful pattern?

Right, back to the Crochet for me!

Tarar for now! 🙂

  1. I love the look of both versions, but I can’t quite get over the fact that it uses two whole Whirls. When I finally get my hands on some Whirls I want as many projects as possible from them!
