I was going to share an update with you on Wednesday but..I was sooo close to finishing this, I really just wanted to get it done. I put the last stitch in on Thursday night….although I was playing some SERIOUS yarn-chicken for the last few rows!
This was how much I had left as I completed the last stitch…..I won! (Phew!)
So here it is finished at last!
I opted for a zip instead of the buttons that the pattern suggested. I finished sewing that in this morning, so I could wear it out today (in the rain…soggy!)
I love the way that the sides have ribbing and I love these little pockets, even if they are quite small!
Here it is from behind….I added a bit of waist-shaping, which the pattern didn’t originally have, I’m glad I did! If you want to see exactly the modifications I made, you can find my notes on my Ravelry project page here
All in all, I’m happy with this! 🙂 As you may remember, one of my January Goals was to finish this hoodie so I’m on-track!
Now I just need to think of my next project!!!!

So neatly done. Looks great!
thanks! I’m super pleased with it!
Fantastic hoodie!! I bet you’ll be wearing it all the time:)
thanks! I already am yes! this cascade 220 is such great yarn!
Wow ! That’s really smart – things with waists always look better – as we do have waists. Planning the next project is always so exciting – like planning a holiday………
thanks! I’m pleased with how it turned out! 😊 it feels odd not to have something “on the go” this afternoon. I’m watching telly and not knitting at the same time for once! I’m sure I’ll correct that by tomorrow! haha! 😊
It looks fab! I love all the details on it
thanks! the designer did good in that sense didn’t they! 😊
And you modified it so you get to take some credit too
thanks! only a very tiny smidge though! 😂 😊
Even so!!!
That’s a great hoodie! Nice details and great zipper work!
thanks! I love it too! 😊
You have every right to be proud ! – it’s absolutely BEAUTFUL ! How about a shot of you wearing it ?
thanks! hmm maybe. it’s not so easy my arms aren’t always long enough! 😂
This is amazing Jo! Well done!
thanks! 😊
I love it! It’s gorgeous!
thank you! 😊
I only hope someday I can knit like you. Absolutely wonderful.
thanks! that’s a lovely thing to say. 😊
The sweater looks GREAT! And. You’ve given me a bit more motivation to continue with my own cardigan sweater! 😉 Thanks!
thanks! sometimes we all need some motivation! is that your “harvest cardigan” ? how are you getting on?
It’s great! The zipper looks super professional, I’d be scared to sew it in!
zippers in wool are a bit of a pain. my tips (if you ever need them) are to block before putting the zip in, to allow the wool to “relax” into it’s final shape. use lots of pins to get it in the right place and be really careful not to stretch the wool as you sew, to avoid puckering! it’s actuallt fairly straightforward as long as you are careful! 😊
Thanks for the tips! Sounds a lot like seaming sweaters, which is rather intimidating 🤔
Ah, that reminds me, i’m half-way through writing a tutorial on seaming sweaters…I must get that finished! 🙂 🙂
I think that it could be a good business idea: seaming sweaters for knitters, because most seem to hate it 😁
you’re right! and knitting sleeves!!! haha! I’m not a fan but its a necessary evil sometimes!
Very pretty! I love those little pockets, too.
thanks! 🙂 I’ve not knitted pockets like that before so it was fun to learn, I like how they have turned out!
Oh my that is so gorgeous!! I love it with the zipper! Looks better than what you buy in the store!
thanks! 😊 the zip makes it more wearable for me personally!
For sure! I like the clean look of the zip:)
It’s perfect!! The zip was definitely a good call, I just can’t imagine it with buttons – it’s exactly right in every way.
thanks! 😊
