Nothing much to say, I just enjoyed this picture of my WIPs that I took last week. Oh and I’ve started “proper cross-stitch”, as if I didn’t have enough hobbies….!!!
As you can see by this picture, I’ve been inspired by the Hygge to do some cross-stitch. I’ve found a lovely heart-pattern (goes with the Hygge theme I think!) on Etsy. Unfortunately, I know very little about cross-stitch. I thought, oohh, great, I’ve got some old cross-stitch fabric and I’ve got lots of embroidery floss, easy-peasy, just get the pattern and go…!
How hard can it be? The heart pattern is only pinks / blues / oranges and greens…I have those!!
Oh how little I know. I didn’t think about the fact that to make it look right I’d need the specific colours that the designer wrote it with. It sounds really silly now I type it “out-loud”….but…!
Not to be put off, I found some of the specific thread colours online for about 70p each and bought those. I figured if I was going to do it, I might as well do it properly. Then I realised that only had “18-count Aida” and I should have had “14-count Aida” – apparently 18 count has more “holes”per inch. however, I decided that I could persevere with that.
Now I’ve started, I’m pleased with how it is looking. Doing it on 18-count makes it more “dainty” but I think I like that!!
Its not much to look at yet, just a collection of crosses, but its coming together!!! Watch this space. Some time in 2027 I may get it finished!!!!!!
“These days, everyone is on a ‘journey’…” (groans my other half, when watching another sob-story on Britain’s got the X-Factor).
Well taking a leaf out of their book…if its all about the ‘journey’, this is mine, and I’m blooming-well going to enjoy it, no matter how long it takes me to finish this cross-stitch part of my ‘journey’!!!! :o)
That’s all for now!
x
